Nigeria fans wanted Carl Ikeme over Vincent Enyeama

Goal readers have voted to keep faith with the Wolverhampton Wanderers stopper over the LOSC Lille keeper
Despite rumours to the contrary, Nigeria’s technical advisor Gernor Rohr opted not to include Vincent Enyeama in his Super Eagles squad to face Zambia in their opening World Cup qualifier.
The legendary stopper confirmed his retirement from the international fold after a dispute with Sunday Oliseh, yet with the former midfielder gone, it doesn’t look like the LOSC Lille man is destined for a comeback any time soon.
Perhaps the 34-year-old’s recent form in Ligue 1 was enough to dissuade Rohr, with Les Dogues having lost four of their six matches to date during a miserable start in which they’ve conceded 11 goals—the joint second worst in the division—and find themselves in the relegation zone,
However, maybe Rohr, like the Nigeria fans, has faith in Carl Ikeme, whose form for Wolves has largely been encouraging this season—bar the 4-0 defeat by Barnsley.
Indeed, in a recent Goal poll, a notable 56 percent of respondents replied that they wanted to see Ikeme start between the sticks for Nigeria during the World Cup qualifiers.
By contrast, Enyeama received just 38 percent of the votes, with the majority of the national team’s fans clearly holding a preference for the Championship keeper.
There clearly isn’t much love for the three alternatives to the more experienced duo, with Emmanuel Daniel, Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa taking just a combined five percent of the votes.
